GOREAN D/s:
an elaborate system of rules and social structures, adapted from a fictitious society in the Gor novels, a series of science fiction books written by John Norman.  Cult followers of the novels have created an online role-play-type society, with elaborate story plots and computer-generated animation.  Other cult followers have taken a more lifestyle approach, adopting some of the same philosophies depicted in the novels.  These people call themselves Goreans.  Those who pursue a Gorean lifestyle do not always consider what they do to be BDSM.  However, due to some of the role-play of a 24/7 power exchange, they are generally considered part of the BDSM subculture.  Those who do pursue a Gorean lifestyle and consider it to be BDSM call their lifestyle practice Gorean D/s.  One of the key philosophies held by many in the Gorean D/s lifestyle is taken straight from John Norman's writings which he called the "natural order."  The "natural order" is the belief that males are inherently more dominant, while females have the predisposition to be subservient to men.  Thus, these are typically the set roles in Gorean role-play.  Sometimes, those who practice Gorean D/s make the "natural order" philosophy a mandatory rule for all in their circle to follow, even though in the John Norman novels, women could attain high ranks in powerful positions to include ruling Gorean cities.  A few dominant men who practice Gorean D/s also hold the belief that their role of being dominant is an entitlement, their given right simply because they are males, without any need of experience as a dominant or having any experience in BDSM.  This is often met with controversy as many in BDSM communities are firm believers that the role of dominant and/or master must be earned through respect and experience.  It should be noted that not all who practice Gorean D/s take on the philosophy that males are superior.  You can find on the Internet many sites depicting Gorean "slave positions" in which the submissive is to hold certain position upon the command of the dominant.  These Gorean slave positions have gained in popularity in recent times.  There are increasing numbers of individuals who embrace Gorean slave positions and other Gorean structures in their BDSM play, even though they themselves do not follow or practice a strict Gorean D/s lifestyle.  Gorean D/s is unfamiliar to many in BDSM, yet still, though it may not be recognized, Gorean D/s has actually influenced many corners of the BDSM community.

GOWORD:
an uncommon term for a code word meaning to continue a play scene after it has been stopped by a safeword.  Many believe a scene should not stop and start frequently, instead once a scene has stopped a return to play should only take place after some discussion and space to clear one's head.  Gowords allow the submissive to top from the bottom, which is often seen as an unwelcomed practice.
