Y-FRAME: a rare type of bondage furniture consisting of an uppercase Y-shaped cross that is affixed to a frame or to a wall, in which a person can be bound for the purposes of flagellation. It is much like the St. Andrew's cross only with one bar at the bottom so that the feet may be bound together. It is also used upside down, to which the legs are bound spread apart while the hands are bound to the single upright piece, similar to a whipping post position. See ST. ANDREW'S CROSS and WHIPPING POST. YOKE or SHOULDER YOKE: a restraint device consisting of a bar or plank, locking cuffs for the wrists, and a cuff for the neck. When worn, it resembles a carrying pole, called a milkmaid’s yoke, bucket yoke, or a shoulder yoke, used by homesteaders and farmers to carry a load on each side. A portable pillory that is not mounted to a base is referred to as a yoke. See related SHREW'S FIDDLE and PILLORY. ADVERTISEMENTS: ~ |
